Saman Dance
A unique dance from a special region Aceh, located
at the uppermost of the Sumatera island.
The dance is not accompanied by any musical instruments, instead a song is
sung directly by the dancers following the movement of the dance
under the direction of a commanding vocal, who in the lead is called Syeh.
The dancers move and make simultaneous movement which became more and more
faster while sitting in a straight row on the floor.
It is said that this dance is developed from ritual movements of the Moslems
praying by giving some praises to God Almighty,
in the development of this dance it then became an entertaining performance.
